Continuing Education with LPA

Psychologists’ professional development is an ongoing process within a dynamic, evolving field. In order to stay up-to-date with the most relevant research, technologies, and best practices, continuing education is absolutely essential. LPA is dedicated to providing a variety of continuing education opportunities for its members, most notably through its annual convention and Fall/Winter workshop, as well as through various webinars. These activities support members’ individual paths to broadening and maintaining their areas of competency, while providing opportunities for community networking that promotes intellectual stimulation, personal growth, and enhancement of psychology as a science and profession.

Our organization has held various continuing education events for our members from notable figures in the field of psychology since our founding in 1948. These events can be viewed on our previous CE events page.

LPA is also sanctioned by the Louisiana State Board of Examiners of Psychologists (LSBEP) as a provider of continuing professional development (CPD) credits for psychologists. Programs sponsored or jointly sponsored by LPA allow participants to earn CPD credits under the mandatory state requirements.

CPD Requirements for Louisiana Psychologists

The biennial reporting period for Louisiana Psychologists is July 1st through June 30th of each odd or even-numbered year depending on whether the Psychologist was issued an odd or even-numbered license. Psychologists must obtain forty hours of continuing professional development (CPD) credits during each biennial license period in order to be eligible to renew their Louisiana license. For additional information on continuing education requirements for psychologists, please consult the
Louisiana State Board of Examiners of Psychologists (LSBEP).

Starting in the reporting year June 2024 there is no longer a requirement to report CEs in multiple categories. Two hours of ethics/forensics AND two hours of multicultural or diversity issues are now required for every reporting period.
