Danielle Cottonham Mason, Ph.D.

Dr. Mason is a licensed psychologist and her work is rooted in her experience as a Black woman who was born in New Orleans and raised in Lafayette. She centers on improving the human condition through connection, community, and liberatory healing. Dr. Mason previously served as the Clinical Manager of Culturally Responsive Care at Lyra Health and is currently the founder and owner of her private practice, Illuminessence Therapy and Consulting, LLC. Dr. Mason earned her undergraduate degree from the University of Louisiana at Lafayette and her doctorate from the University of Southern Mississippi. She went on to complete her internship at the New Orleans VA Medical Center and her postdoc at the San Francisco VA Health Care System. Her clinical, teaching, supervision, and research interests include: culturally informed evidence-based practice, trauma informed interventions for race-based traumatic stress, PTSD and co-occurring substance use disorders, and moral injury among combat veterans.
